Oak Point, TX

Oak Point, TX Real Estate

Part of Denton County, the City of Oak Point is a beautiful community of about 3,300 residents that sits 40 miles north of Dallas and about 10 miles east of Denton. Voted 19th best suburb in the Dallas area by D Magazine, Oak Point is known for its beautiful sunsets and incredible lake views. One of North Texas’ most desirable lake communities, Emerald Sound, lies within the city of Oak Point. While residents of Oak Point enjoy many water sports activities that Lake Lewisville provides, members of the community can also enjoy quiet, serene evenings away from the water. Oak Point is about 10 miles from the Dallas North Tollway, seven miles from Interstate 35-E, and about 25 miles from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Oak Point, TX Amenities

What makes Oak Point unique is the feeling of seclusion that it provides. One resident even described it as “feeling like they were in the middle of nowhere,” though for the residents that’s the whole point. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or long-time resident, you get the sense that Oak Point is a secluded, exclusive place to be. One of the significant points of interest in Oak Point would be the Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club, which sits near the waters of Lake Lewisville, hosts a variety of events including educational sailing courses and a variety of races. If you have a passion for the water, you’ll be able to find various boat ramps dotted around Lake Lewisville as shown in the map below (the closest being in Oak Point itself), although the nearest marina lies across the water. If you don’t want to spend your day in the water, you might like to check out Jake’s Place Park, which contains two baseball fields, a soccer field, a basketball court, picnic benches, and grills. The lake itself (of which Oak Point covers only a portion), is dotted by additional parks and campsites for those willing to drive a bit for some fun in the sun. Of course, one of the biggest draws of the area are the polo fields! Places like the Willow Bend Polo Club and Prestonwood Polo Club offer a wide range of programs and events, such as polo lessons (for all ages) as well as regular tournaments and matches!

Of course, Oak Point wouldn’t be desirable if there weren’t anything at all worth doing or visiting in the immediate surroundings. Luckily, you’ll find just about any amenity you desire even a few miles outside of Oak Point.

You can find several points of interest 10 miles west of Oak Point in Denton. One of the most popular sites to visit is the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum. While being the resting place of John B. Denton (the city and county’s namesake) the museum also houses a rich history of the area, containing items of African American and Hispanic heritage, Southwest American Indian and Denton County pottery, folk art, and more. If you have a passion for the arts, you may want to visit the Denton Community Theatre. This theater is host to a variety of plays, musicals, and other events such as fundraisers year round. It also offers theatrical education programs for residents of all ages!

If you’ve got food on our mind, then a variety of choices are available to you! If you’re craving Southern home cooked-style food in a casual setting for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll need to head over to the Prairie House Restaurant. Well-known for their fast service and delicious brisket and ribs, Prairie House doesn’t disappoint the locals whether they’re serving food at the restaurant or providing catering.

In the mood for Mexican food? Then Villa Grande Mexican Restaurant should be your destination. Their regulars frequent the restaurant for their enchiladas, tacos, tamales, and more. Don’t forget to order the freshly-made guacamole! It’s arguable that you won’t find a more authentic Mexican dining experience near Oak Point.

If you want something upscale and unique, you should head to Denton and dine at the sushi restaurant Keiichi. Dining hours reserved for the evening and night, coupled with limited seating and an intimate setting establish this restaurant as one of the most desirable places in Denton County to have dinner. Keiichi uses only the freshest ingredients throughout their menu, so you can’t go wrong. Even if you’re not a lover of sushi, you should give this restaurant a chance.
